The city of Rancho Cordova has started replacing all 4800 street lights with new LED lights.

Here's why the city says it's making the move.

LED street lights save as much as 60% on energy costs and last four times as long.

They reduce light pollution and save around five hundred tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.

Also LED lights project white light instead of orange or red light, allowing drivers and pedestrians to more easily see objects in their path increasing traffic safety.
