RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. -- The City of Rancho Cordova is looking at making business and home owners responsible for repairing broken sidewalks in front of their property.

It's a law that is already in effect in Sacramento. A current report to city council lists $850,000 in current needed sidewalk repairs.

However, the city doesn't plan on sending bills to property owners immediately. And there will be an assistance program to help cover some of the cost -- which could run as high as $1,500 per repair. Rancho Cordova City Council will discuss the ordinance Tuesday.
