The Red Cross is helping people with food and shelter after the devastating tornadoes in the South and Midwest.
In addition, the local Red Cross is on alert to be deployed to the affected areas.
Volunteer Helen Lindsey has helped in similar disasters. 'I've been to Alabama, when the tornadoes hit there, I think it was two years ago. It was devastating. When you see it, it's a lot more personal. It's a lot different from seeing it on TV,' Lindsey says.
With the storms shutting down or destroying blood donation centers, the Red Cross is asking for people to donate if they can.
The Red Cross has already sent several units of Type O negative blood and plasma to hospitals in Arkansas.
