Despite a slight uptick for October, the region's jobless numbers continue to show progress.
The unemployment rate in the Sacramento region for October is at 8.1 percent -- up two-tenths of a percent from September, but down almost 2 percent from a year ago.
"We added 4,000 jobs over the month and 7,800 jobs over the year. We look like we're going in a positive direction, Heather Chamizo with the state's Employment Development Department said.
Chamizo says hospitality and leisure have seen the most growth, adding 5,600 jobs over the past year.
"Looks like people are getting out, doing more traveling and eating out a little bit more," Chamizo said.
Statewide unemployment has dropped to 8.7 percent.
