Humanitarian Aid Drops Begin in Iraq

Humanitarian Aid Drops Begin in Iraq
Posted Thursday, August 7th 2014 @ 4pm  by KFBK News

The U.S. is sending cargo planes to drop pallets of humanitarian aid and supplies to stranded Iraqi citizens who fled villages in Northern Iraq under threat from ISIS.

The air drop mission has begun. Jets are en route to the drop locations, but no drops have been made yet. Fighter jets are involved in the mission to serve as a protective force.

The Pentagon is denying a report saying that it has bombed ISIS targets in northern Iraq.

ISIS militants have trapped tens of thousands of people on  a mountain there, and they're said to be dying of thirst and the heat.

The "New York Times" reports that U.S. forces have bombed at least two targets.

The Pentagon's press secretary says the reports are completely false.

Some reports say the explosions were bombings from the Iraqi army itself, attacking the militants in the area, but those reports remain unconfirmed.
