A news report says the woman at the center of the Donald Sterling scandal is now being investigated for extortion.

According to KABC-TV, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office is now taking a closer look at V. Stiviano.

The report claims someone in Sterling's camp went to the D.A.'s office and reported Stiviano was demanding money in exchange for keeping more recorded comments from Sterling under wraps.

The D.A.'s office isn't commenting on the report, nor is Stiviano or Sterling.

V. Stiviano ended up in the headlines after recordings made by her featuring Sterling making racist comments became public.

She has insisted she was not the one who released the tapes.

Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA, but is expected to take the league to court over its insistence that he sell the Clippers.
