The GOP is once again losing ground among the state's registered voters, but it's not alone.
The Democratic Party has also taken a hit in the latest figures from the Secretary of State's Office, with the number of independents rising by 268,000 over the last year.
Those with "no party preference" make up nearly 21 percent of the electorate, a figure that's risen a full percentage point since 2010.
Make no mistake though, this is still a blue state.
Democrats continue to have the highest proportion with 17.7 million voters, 43.5 percent.
Republicans come in with nearly 29 percent, a 2 percent drop since the 2010 elections.
