Two Republican California state senators, Anthony Cannella and Andy Vidak, are out today with a new bill that will put a water bond on the November ballot.

They say the bond would narrow the focus of the water bond the Legislature negotiated in 2009 to focus on water projects that are essential to move, store or clean water.

Vidak says, "water is life, it's food, it's jobs. It's a crying shame to let precious water wash out to sea."

He wants lawmakers to make water storage and access to clean drinking water a state priority.
