The City of Sacramento continues to get water waste complaints after the council approved a mandatory 20 percent reduction in water earlier this month.
However, News10 says yesterday there was water coming from several fire hydrants in the Land Park area, and the people letting the water flow were city workers.
Tony Bertrand with city's utilities department says they were checking the water pressure.
"They have to do these water supply tests in order to determine whether there is adequate water flow," Bertrand said.
The tests allow thousand of gallons of water to run into storm drains.
Given the drought conditions, the city acknowledges the water can and should be saved.
They are currently looking at ways to capture and reuse the water instead of letting it go down the street gutter.
