Roseville Mayor Warns Residents of Signature Gathering Scam
Posted October 9th, 2013 @ 5:49pm by KFBK News - Joe Michaels

The mayor of Roseville has sent out a robocall alerting residents of a scam involving their personal information.

Roseville mayor Susan Rohan said paid signature gatherers outside local businesses are asking people for their personal information and in some cases their social security numbers.

"I've been getting telephone calls, as have some of the other council people, from constituents who have been concerned about people who have approached them," Rohan said.

Rohan said she felt compelled to let people know about the potential problems.

"Overhearing a signature gatherer asking for a social security number and inappropriate information," Rohan said.

Rohan says the only petition circulating now is calling for a cap on salaries for city management and confidential employees.
