A Roseville woman is accused of to trying to scam people by having them pay fees for renting a house -- that she doesn't own.

Two different would-be renters responded to an ad on Craigslist for a house up for rent in the Cherry Glen neighborhood.

News10 is reporting they completed the forms and paid application fees to 23-year-old Krissi Peede.

However, one of the renters became suspicious about the situation, so she drove out to see the house that was supposed to be up for rent.

She learned the actual homeowners  were selling it - -not renting it. The homeowners also did not know who Peede was, and that's when the suspicious renter contacted police.

Peede was arrested and charged with fraud and other alleged crimes.

Police are warning the public about possible scams like this saying, don't ever provide personal information or pay fees to someone before seeing the property.
