The Sacramento Kings say they’ve met their goal in a local reading and literacy campaign introduced last month by Mayor Kevin Johnson.
In less than three weeks, more than 100-thousand dollars in season ticket-holder deposits were collected from fans looking to secure seats in the new downtown arena.
"They're loyalty is unyielding, and anytime we put up a big goal like this they always find a way to meet it," said Phil Horn of the Kings.
Horn added that the money will be donated to local reading programs. The United Way, Sacramento Office of Education, Sacramento READS! and the Sacramento Public Library will split the funds.
