A huge grass fire burned between 50 and 100 acres along the American River Parkway near Cal Expo Friday afternoon.

Bonney Field, Raging Waters and Cal Expo itself have all been evacuated, with Raging Waters handing out vouchers to a big holiday crowd that was spending the day cooling off at the water park.

The Sacramento Republic FC's soccer match that was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight has been canceled due to air quality concerns.

As of now, Cal Fire says tonight's fireworks show there will go on as planned.

Police and fire trucks are on site and directing traffic in the area. Firefighters are still on the scene, keeping the flames under control.

The smoke rising from the site of the fire was dark black and thick earlier in the afternoon, but is now dissipating and mostly white in color.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. One firefighter was injured battling the blaze, reportedly from heat exhaustion.
