Sacramento's new soccer team and a potential stadium suitor are seeking a 90-day extension to continue evaluation and review of a temporary multi-use facility.

"They wanna make sure everything's done in the proper manner and transparent disclosure not only to the Cal-Expo board but to the public, and like anything, sometimes you just need a little more time," said Erika Bjork with The Sacramento Republic Football Club.

Bjork says club has been working with Cal Expo and Ovations Fanfare for several months on a potential development that could be built at Cal Expo in time for the soccer team to begin its inaugural season next spring,

"We are anticipating and planning to host our home matches on the full grass pitch that will be built at it," she said.

However, the groups agree that terms of a potential agreement will not be finalized in time to make a recommendation to the State Fair Board of Directors at their upcoming board meeting this Friday.
