More than two and-a-half million dollars in grant money will soon be helping AmeriCorps programs in Sacramento.
The Child Abuse Prevention Council will receive a pair of grants - totaling more than 1.3 million dollars.
'The first grant will go to the Birth and Beyond Program to support 90 AmeriCorps members who will be providing family resources and parenting education in high-risk communities,' says Congresswoman Doris Matsui.
She also says their second grant will allow 45 AmeriCorps members to recruit and support foster kids as part of their Youth Investment Center.
Other grants include more than 600-thousand dollars to Prevent Child Abuse California and 630-thousand to the Local Government Commission to support environmental and climate change organizations.
