The City of Sacramento is celebrating some restored programs - all thanks to you.
It's been exactly a year since Measure U went into effect: the half-cent sales tax approved by voters, on all purchases in city limits to restore those services that were cut and lost in the recession.
Linda Tucker with the City Manager's Office says it's generated 27 million dollars so far.
Sac PD got a big share and has hired dozens of new officers to grow its ranks to nearly 700. Fire station brownouts have now been cancelled. And then there's Park and Rec.
Bathrooms are open, there aren't as many weeds. Tucker says, 'We were able to relaunch a number of programs for youth and seniors.'
Tucker says new development will help wean us off the revenue by 2019.
