Health officials say the patient at Kaiser Permanente South who'd recently visited West Africa has tested NEGATIVE for the Ebola virus.

State and county health officials met at Kaiser Permanente South Medical Center for the announcement. That's where the patient was taken earlier this week to be tested for the serious virus.

Dr. Ron Chapman, director of the California Department of Public Health and State Health Office, will be on hand.

State health officials said earlier this week they believed the patient was "low risk."

The patient had blood samples drawn that were tested by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.
