A woman at an adult group home has been beaten to death, Sacramento Police said. Police believe the victim knew the attacker.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of Matson Drive about 8:19 last night, following a report of a woman bleeding and in need of medical assistance, Spokeswoman Michele Gigante said.

Officers discovered the woman had been assaulted inside the group home where she lived. She was struck with a blunt object, and her injuries led to her death.

Police think the woman knew the attacker, it did not appear to be random.

The identity of the woman has not been released.
