One million dollars is on its way to the Sacramento region.

It comes from the Department of Homeland Security’s Urban Areas Security Initiative and will be used for emergency management and homeland security activities throughout the region, including first responder training and the improvement of data sharing among local agencies involved in terrorism investigations.

The grant program supports the unique planning, equipment, training, and exercise needs of high-threat, high-density urban areas, and assists them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism.
