Some very bright high school students from Sacramento are coming home with gold today after winning a national championship.
Mira Loma High School is this year's U.S. Department of Energy's Science Bowl champion. Coach James Hill says his team was undefeated in the "Jeopardy-style" competition in which students have to buzz in with the correct answers.
Hill says 'We get one-thousand dollars for being in the top sixteen teams,' and another five-hundred for excelling in the competition. All due to future scientists like team captain Daniel Sheehan. Sheehan says 'I plan to do an engineering major in college.'
Hill says this is the school's fourth championship in his 15 years as coach.
