The search in Folsom Lake for victims of a 50 year old plane crash is being called off, even after a special sonar team was brought in.

There were three bodies that sunk to the bottom of the lake in wreckage from a that was involved in a colision about 2,500 feet above the body of water.

After five days of searching, the El Dorado County Sheriff's department has decided that continuing the search would be too dangerous.  This is due to zero visibility in the lake and obstructions underwater such as 50 to 60 foot trees.

National Sonar experts were brought in and their equipment was not able to find any signs of the wreckage, and subsequently divers never even hit the water.

Officials and family members of the victims were hoping that they could take advantage of the low water levels and find the wreckage.
