Undocumented immigrants are specifically excluded from Obamacare. But, one senator wants to change that.
Southern California Democrat Richard Lara says he's going to introduce a bill that would expand eligibilty for coverage through California's health insurance exchange to all residents of the Golden State, regardless of their immigration status.
Lara says an estimated one million immigrants living illegally in California do not have health insurance.
But conservatives object.
Assemblyman Tim Donnelly has gone as far as to call it shameful, telling the Los Angeles Times,
"California cannot afford to create another incentive to attract people to come to our state illegally in pursuit of taxpayer-subsidized benefits."
