Sacramento Sheriff Scot Jones just held a news conference tonight detailing how detectives found murder suspect Orville Fleming, the former Cal Fire battalion chief arrested today for the murder of his girlfriend.

Jones said despite an extensive ground search in south Sacramento where Fleming ditched his car after the murder, Fleming has actually been hiding in vegetation in the area the past two weeks.

Jones said the capture of Fleming came down to good old detective work: A detective saw a man resembling Fleming board a bus; the detective followed the bus then asked the man if he was Fleming when he got off.

Fleming was taken into custody.

Sheriff Jones said Fleming admitted to "culpability" in the murder of his girlfriend.

There has been a two-week statewide manhunt for Fleming in the May 1st murder of his girlfriend, Sarah Douglas.
