Postal carriers across the nation will be collecting food for the needy today as part of the 22nd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
David Rupert with the United States Postal Service says that's the day of the annual Letter Carriers' Food Drive. 'This is the nation's largest food drive. You'll see food drives throughout the year but a lot of local food banks count on this,' he says.
Postal workers will collect non-perishable food items placed near mailboxes and deliver them to food banks.
The Letter Carriers' Food Drive is the nation's largest single-day food drive.
Last year, the drive collected a record 74-million pounds of food.
