State Controller Race Still Too Close to Call

State Controller Race Still Too Close to Call
Posted Wednesday, June 25th 2014 @ 8am  by KFBK News - Tim Lantz

We still don't have a clearcut second candidate in the run for California Controller this fall. It's just too close to call now weeks after the primary.

The controller's race is so close that Betty Yee and John Perez are separated by less than 900 votes -- keep in mind about 4 million votes were cast.

No matter who wins, the other candidate has the option of calling for a recount, and that's an expensive and time-consuming process that could impact the general election.

State law requires you pay for the cost up front, but you get that money back if the results change in the recount.

Fresno Mayor Ashely Swearengin is the top vote-getter and has already secured a spot in the November election.
