A new website that allows you to watch your taxpayer dollars at work shows that $13 billion of Prop 30 funding is going to California schools. Jacob Roper, spokesman for State Controller John Chiang, says TrackProp30.CA.gov reveals every tax dollar raised.
"What the Controller wanted to do was create an easy way for someone to take a quick look and see where the money's going and where it's being used," Roper said.
Prop 30 is the voter approved measure that pumps up the sales tax for all Californians and increases the income tax for the wealthier ones. The money supports public schools to stave off $5 billion in cuts.
