Statewide flu deaths are still rising but all signs show our season is winding down.
To date, state health officials say they've seen 318 flu-related deaths, which is nearly triple the total number from last season. There's still a ways to go this year but the pace of fatalities is easing. Sixteen more last week, but 24 the week before.
Locally, things are looking even better.
"The last count that we have actually is 29 deaths, and we have no reports in the last week" said Kate McCauly.
McCauly, with the Sacramento County Department of Public Health, says they haven't seen any new ER visits.
She cautions though that the flu is unpredictable any activity could spike again.
