Senate President pro tem Darrell Steinberg is working to remove Senator Ron Calderon from his position as chair of the Senate Insurance committee.

Steinberg also wants Calderon removed from all other committee assignments -- pending the outcome of allegations that Calderon accepted bribes from an undercover FBI agent.

Word broke of the federal investigation last week, when Al Jazeera America released the details of a sealed affidavit.

Steinberg says the charges are enough to cloud any interactions Calderon may have while performing his duties as a state senator.
