Taking Antidepressants While Pregnant May Be Linked to Autism

Posted April 18th, 2014 @ 6:21am by KFBK News

Researchers at UC Davis say taking antidepressants during pregnancy might be linked to an increased risk of autism in children.

A team at the MIND Institute focused on a connection between autism in boys and anxiety drugs called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, or SSRI's.

It's a potential problem for expecting mothers who may experience maternal depression.

The researchers make it clear that the drugs don't necessarily cause autism and that current research points to a number of different factors.
