A teen has been taken to the hospital after falling 250 feet down a cliff in Foresthill.

The call came into the Placer County Sheriff's Office around 1:30 this afternoon. Lt. John Poretti says it all took place near the Worton's Market on Foresthill Road.

"What occurred, where they were trying to pick up a picnic table, is what I was told, and then one of them slipped," Poretti said.

Poretti says Tyler Grandy, 17, was concious when rescuers were able to reach him.

"I do know he had a head injury -- a laceration on his head, and a laceration on one of his legs," he said.

Poretti says a paramedic was lifted in to help get the teen out. He was pulled off the cliff by a helicopter, transferred to an ambulance and then taken by ground to Sutter Roseville.

Grandy was released to his parents Tuesday night.
