Sacramento police are trying to determine why the driver of a crashed car and one of his passengers took off running from an overnight accident that killed another person in the car -- a 17-year-old girl.

A Honda Civic was traveling westbound on a frontage road along Florin Road around 2 a.m. when it hit the truck.

"We were later able to find both the driver and the passenger. They were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive their injuries," Sacramento Police Lt. Norm Leong said.

Leong says officers are looking in the possibility alcohol was involved.

One other car was hit in the crash, but no one else was involved.
