Three Northern California teens have been arrested for kidnapping a 17-year-old Marysville boy they planned to torture -- all because one of the suspects had a crush on the victim's girlfriend, according to officials.

Yuba County Under Sheriff Jerry Ried says the three teens arranged a bogus marijuana deal with their victim on Facebook. They arrived wearing bandanas and sunglasses.

"The front passenger got out of the car and pointed a pistol at the victim. It was later determined to be an air soft pistol," Ried said.

The victim's aunt tipped off the sheriff's department that her nephew may have been kidnapped.

Deputies stopped the truck, rescuing the teen. They found a machete and rope in the vehicle. Reid says the teens revealed their plans under questioning.

"They were going to torture him. They were going to sexually assault him. There was the contemplation of murdering him in the process," Ried said.

The Yuba County Prosecutor plans to try the teens as adults.
