The clock is ticking and state lawmakers did some scrambling yesterday when it came to getting a new water bond on the ballot.

A proposal signed by Governor Jerry Brown pushed back the printing of voter guides until Wednesday, giving more time for party leaders -- and Brown -- to work on the specifics.

Details of a new plan have also emerged.

It reportedly centers on a $7.1 billion price tag that would include $2.5 billion for new storage projects.

Republicans have been pressing for $500 million more for reservoirs and dams.
