Thousands of hotel rooms, and that's just the teams.

The upcoming Amgen Tour of California is boosting the local economy.  Add up all the riders, coaches, physicians, race workers, and media that are here and there have been 2,000 hotel bookings.

"The riders actually started arriving on Tuesday so we've had room nights, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.  We'll also have them Saturday and Sunday," said Mike Testa.

Testa, with the Sacramento Convention and Visitors Bureau, says fans will account for even more, with a total of $8 million expected to be injected into the economy.

The tour is being covered by more than 100 local, national, and international media outlets and will be televised on NBC Sports.
