No doubt about it, kids are back in school and a lot of parents are making packed lunches for their kids.
Nationally-known Dietitian Diane Henderiks thinks there are several things to concentrate on.
"I think it's just really important for kids to make sure they have a nourishing breakfast, they have good snacks on hand, and if they want something sweet, that it's a good option," Henderiks said.
And she says she's not talking sugar when she speaks of sweet snacks.
She says plant-based Soy Joy bars do the job without the health issues.
Henderiks also says kids who aren't hungry in the morning still need to eat something.
She says a recent study in the "Journal of School Health" shows that kids who skip breakfast don't do as well in school.
