Today is the deadline to start applications for new insurance under Covered California and there will be a 17-hour "Enroll-a-thon" in Sacramento.
It'll be hosted at the SEIU offices on F Street from 7AM until midnight.
Certified enrollers will answer questions and process applications face-to-face.
You'll need to bring proof of identity, proof of address, proof of income and proof of citizenship.
The fair is free and open to the public and is being held at 1911 F Street.
A public question line will be answered all day at (888) 920-4517.
"The deadline is March 31st, Monday, midnight for people who are choosing to purchase health insurance through the market place, or privately to avoid being exposed to the personal responsibility payment," said David Sayen.
Sayen is a regional administrator at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services which runs the healthcare marketplace.
"We're going to allow a couple of weeks into the middle of April for that application process to continue for those people," he added.
Sayen says that payment is essentially a penalty on people who can afford health insurance but don't carry it this year. The responsibility payment would be due when those people pay their taxes next year. For those who at least start the application process either on the phone, by mail or online by 11:59 p.m. today, you will have until April 15th to complete that process.
