Today, the CHP is joining the nation in recognizing National Amber Alert Day.
Cpt. Jay Bart says that since the program was instituted in 2002, California has activated more than 200 Amber Alerts and this has resulted in the safe return of 254 children.
He says this day is to remind the public that they are the eyes and ears that help in the recovery of these kids.
"An Amber Alert is a call to action. We count on the public quite a bit in regards to Amber Alerts," he said.
The Amber Alert program can be found in every state in the nation.
