SAN DIEGO, Calif -- Some alleged sexual harassment victims of San Diego Mayor Bob Filner are celebrating the fact that today is his last day on the job.

Filner's resignation becomes effective at 5 p.m. local time today.

One alleged victim, City Hall employee Peggy Shannon, says she and other women started out being victims of Mayor Filner, and now they are all survivors.

Attorney Gloria Allred says the city of San Diego should be proud that they have stood up to what she calls Filner's "betrayal" of the public trust and pushed for his resignation. City Council President Todd Gloria becomes interim mayor and a special election to replace Filner will be held on Nov. 19.
