OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Authorities say a tornado has killed two people in the small northeastern Oklahoma town of Quapaw.

Ottawa County sheriff's dispatcher Colleen Thompson says two people were reportedly killed when the twister hit the community near Oklahoma's borders with Kansas and Missouri at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. She says the extent of the damage is still unknown.

The tornado was one of several spawned by a large storm front moving through the Midwest and South. There have been no other reported deaths due to the storms.

Meanwhile the National Weather Service confirms tornadoes have been spotted this afternoon in Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas.

Several Central and Southern states are under a Tornado Watch due to this strong storm system.

At least one person has been killed by a tornado that hit in eastern North Carolina yesterday.

Authorities say an eleven-month-old that was injured yesterday in Chowan County has died.
