Twin Brothers Plead Not Guilty to Homicide Charges
Posted Wednesday, April 9th 2014 @ 2pm  by KFBK News - Joe Michaels

Arraignment proceedings continued this afternoon for three young men involved in a series of crimes that resulted in the death of an Antelope man and his daughter last week.

Nineteen-year-old twins Ruslan and Roman Glukoy - and 21-year old Yuriy Merkushev - appeared with their attorneys in the Placer County Jail Courtroom this afternoon.

Each entered a plea of "not guilty" to all charges including new Special Circumstance allegations added to Ruslan Glukhoy's case.

According to Defense Attorney David Cohen, the Special Circumstances include, 'When there's two victims in a murder case, and one in which a killing occurs during the course of an inherently dangerous felony.'

Cohen says, while he has YET to see police reports on the crash, the new charges suggest that Ruslan was driving the stolen pickup when it crashed into a car driven by the late Jose Luis Tovar-Barriga.

Ruslan and his brother Roman each face two murder charges along with a number of other felonies - including grand theft and assaulting a peace officer - charges also facing Merkushev.

Each of the defendants waived their right to a preliminary hearing. The case will continue May 19th.
