A local school is among six statewide that has shown a big improvement in attendance.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson announced today that six programs in California schools have been designated as models of attendance improvement and dropout prevention by the State School Attendance Review Board.

In our area, the Twin Rivers Unified School District was honored for achieving these goals.

The announcement comes on the heels of news that California has increased its graduation rate to slightly above 80 percent.
