Twitter is celebrating a record breaking Super Bowl.

The social networking site says this year's Super Bowl generated nearly 25 million Tweets during the live telecast surpassing last year's record of almost 24 million.

The biggest Super Bowl-related peak was the second half's opening kickoff return for a touchdown which registered roughly 380,000 Tweets per minute.

The halftime show featuring Bruno Mars topped out at 230,000 Tweets per minute.

Twitter also says 58 percent of the commercials during the game featured a hashtag, up from 50 percent last year.
