The Placer County Sheriff's Department says two men are in the county jail after they shot at deputies during a car chase on Sunday morning in Auburn.

Deputies say they tried to stop a car on Lincoln Way, but the driver sped up and tried to get away.

During the chase at least two shots were allegedly fired from the car at the sheriff's cruiser, but no one was hit.

The car being chased, later crashed, and two men ran away.

The men were caught nearby with the help of a K-9. Philip Murphy, 20, was arrested on the scene and 31-year-old Eric Eaton was eventually found hiding in a Foresthill home and arrested.

Both are facing attempted murder and other charges.
