The arena is out, but UC Davis may be in. The university is looking at Sacramento's Downtown Railyard.
School officials are eyeing the site as a possible location for a satellite campus tied to the University's World Food Center. The year-old program focuses on food safety, agricultural policy, nutrition and related matters.
An extension at the downtown location would be devoted to food and agriculture programs and might also house a year-round farmers market.
Developers say it could also be an economic stimulant and attract companies like food processors to set up shop nearby.
University officials say early discussions are taking place but no plans have been formalized.
