Citrus Heights Police shot a man armed with two knives Thursday morning. Officers say they were called to a rehab facility along Oak Avenue on reports that a man was threatening people inside.
He apaprently fled into another nearby residence before then running into a Christmas tree lot near Oak and Canelo Hills Drive. That’s where he’s said to have confronted police, who fired at least two shots.
"While taking the suspect into custody he continued to struggle. The officers sustained minor injuries which they received first aid for on scene," said Lieutenant Brian Kinnan,
who also said the suspect was taken to a hospital for surgery and is in critical condition.
Two nearby schools were locked down and road closures could remain in effect for several hours as the investigation continues.
The suspect's name is Panogiotis Eliopoulos, age 29.
