The NTSB says it will investigate a single engine plane crash near the Truckee-Tahoe airport that killed one person and injured another yesterday. The plane went down 6 miles southeast of the airport. Captain Jeff Ausnow with the Placer County Sheriff's Office says they had to navigate some rugged terrain to get to the wreckage.
"We were able to reach the aircraft and render aid to the one survivor and we've also confirmed that there was a second passenger in the aircraft. The second passenger has been pronounced deceased at the scene," he explained.
55-year-old Darla Sue Farnell of Tahoe City was killed instantly. Her husband, 70-year-old Ray Richard Farnell was taken by air-ambulance to a hospital in Reno, and is listed in critical condition.
