The Washington state governor's office says at least ten people are missing in a mudslide. The incident happened late yesterday morning.

Crews in the small town of Oso, northeast of Seattle, are clawing through rubble to reach any survivors.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Department said last night three people were killed and seven hospitalized.

The department also confirmed six houses were smashed to pieces and at least 15 were damaged.

Authorities are blaming heavy rains and saturated ground for the mudslide.
