The U.S. will deploy two Navy destroyers to Japan within the next three years in response to North Korean missile launches.

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced the move today, saying the deployment by 2017 is an attempt to deter North Korean aggression.

The North launched two medium-range missiles on March 26th, when leaders of the U.S., Japan and South Korea met to talk about the isolated nation's nuclear program.

The move will bring the number of missile defense destroyers based in Japan to seven.
