Was Response Too Slow to TB Outbreak at Grant High School?
Posted July 22nd, 2014 @ 3:46pm by KFBK News - Mike Simpson

The city and county are looking to answer questions and quell some fears over the Grant High School TB outbreak.

There will be a meeting this Thursday night, where health officials will be on hand to detail just what the campus -- and community -- are still dealing with.

"We've gotten a number of calls and most people want to know, essentially, what it is," City Councilman Allen Warren said.

Warren says he's seen complaints about both a lack of information or lack of response.

Five students have tested positive for active tuberculosis after an initial infection in February, and some parents say it took county health too long to test the whole campus.

"We don't want people turned off from sending their kids to Grant High School," he said.

Thirty kids are still undergoing testing.

The meeting will be held at the Mims Hagginwood Community Center at 6 p.m.
