It is now a criminal offense in California to over-water your lawn or wash down your driveway.

That ruling officially took effect today after a review by the Office of Administrative Law following the July 15 decision by the State Water Resources Control Board.

These restrictions apply to residents, and businesses for the next nine months, and are punishable by a $500 dollar-a-day fine.

Local government's are also being watched.
